The Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations state that asbestos in the workplace must be identified so far as is reasonably practicable. An asbestos management plan must also be put in place by 4 April 2018 to manage the risk of asbestos exposure to staff from asbestos containing materials present at work sites.
An asbestos management plan sets out how your identified asbestos materials will be managed and includes how asbestos will be identified, procedures for incidents, training and health monitoring for workers, and how decisions relating to asbestos management are made.
Chemsafety can assist you with both undertaking asbestos surveys to locate asbestos containing materials and preparation of an asbestos management plan. We will assess the risk of each asbestos material presents using the priority assessment algorithm contained in the UK HSE Managing and Working with Asbestos, 2012, ACOP. We will then work with you to determine appropriate control measures, for your asbestos materials, to ensure you are meeting New Zealand legislative requirements.
