Continuing the expansion process of the company during 2018 and 2019, Chemsafety`s laboratory has worked extensively on implementing the necessary modifications to receive the asbestos identification test in bulk materials. We have gone through a serious of improvements and our quality system has been updated to comply with all requirements to become an accredited laboratory by IANZ (NZS ISO/IEC 17025:2018).

As result of this effort, since January 2019, we are performing asbestos identification tests in bulk materials using polarised light microscopy, first as a laboratory approved by WorkSafe NZ and since June as an accredited laboratory by IANZ. Having the asbestos identification test performed internally has proved to be a big asset for the company as the asbestos surveying consultants can work closely with the analysts and gain more information about the samples they have collected.

Our analysts have a high level of technical knowledge and extensive laboratory experience. We pride ourselves on the quality of the work in our lab.

Besides the test for asbestos identification in bulk material implemented this year, the laboratory performs other tests, such as:

  • Determination of air-borne fibre counts on membrane filters by phase contrast microscopy
  • Gravimetric analysis for the determination of dust in air
  • Determination of lead in paint materials

If you require any of these analyses or have questions, just talk to us and we can advise you how to proceed with your sample or concerns. The laboratory is open to our clients for visits and if you want to have more information about our analysis.
