The Health & Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations
2016 have classified asbestos into three classes for removal work:
Class A – removal of friable asbestos except where friable asbestos containing dust is removed in conjunction with the removal of non-friable asbestos or there is only ‘minor contamination’.
Class B – removal of more than 10m2 of non-friable asbestos (cumulatively over the whole course of the removal project) and friable asbestos containing dust associated with the removal of non-friable asbestos.
Unclassed – removal of less than or equal to 10m2 of non-friable asbestos (cumulatively over the whole course of the removal project) and friable asbestos containing dust associated with the removal of less than 10m2 of non-friable asbestos.
