HASANZ 2021 scholarships have been awarded to three of the Chemsafety team
We are proud to announce that three of Chemsafety’s employees have recently been awarded Health and Safety New Zealand (HASANZ) Scholarships for 2021! The HASANZ Scholarships offer up to two years of full-time or part-time study, along with practical experience and mentoring. HASANZ established the Scholarship Programme in 2018 to increase the capabilities of New Zealand’s professional health and safety workforce. Scholarships are awarded annually and are intended to promote the education of New Zealanders’ around health and safety
- Kurt Blomquist was awarded the Occupational Hygiene Scholarship. People pursuing a diploma or degree in health and safety are eligible for this scholarship. “The scholarship will allow me to complete further study towards the International Certificate in Occupational Hygiene and also connect with other hygienists.”
- General scholarships are for those who wish to upskill to a diploma or degree. Our Senior Consultant Janet Connochie was awarded this scholarship and will be putting it towards her work on the Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management through Massey University. “I’m looking forward to gaining expanded expertise that will enable me to support the management of hazardous substances throughout New Zealand.”
- The Women in Safety scholarship was awarded to our Managing Director Bridgette Jennings. Women in safety is a new category that supports women that want to upskill into leadership and governance positions. Bridgette will be putting her scholarship to good use enrolling for the Company Director’s Course being offered by the Institute of Directors New Zealand. “I chose this course because I want to upskill in governance so I can work with boards to drive health and safety improvement.”
This excellent program is possible due to the business sponsors who provide funding for the HASANZ scholarships. Along with the sponsors, HASANZ and all members, we are passionate about encouraging education in work place safety, helping make NZ a safer place for people to go to work in, and more importantly – come home safely from. Six scholarships are available to help prevent health and safety accidents in New Zealand.
