Worker Training

The Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 (HSW(HS)) have now been upon us for nearly 5 years and uncertainty around documented worker training and certified handlers still seems to be a hotly contested issue.

In this webinar, we cover the intricacies of what needs to be covered as per Part 4.5 of HSW(HS) and when refresher training should be scheduled by the PCBU for the worker. Discussions on various FAQ’s will be carried out and answered and we will determine what differences in the refresher training might need to be explained in the current climate due to the introduction of GHS.

Understanding of Certified hander requirements will also be covered including SWI’s for some substances and also clarification around certified handler requirements for laboratories as per Part4, Part 6 and Part 18 of HSW(HS). Information around GHS and what this will mean for certified handlers in the foreseeable future.

This webinar is presented by Dwayne Bennett.  Dwayne has been with Chemsafety since 2013 and during that time he has become the main presenter of the certified handler and chemical awareness courses.  Dwayne specialises in customising training to meet client’s sites and their team’s needs.  He is approved by WorkSafe NZ as a Compliance Certifier for Certified Handlers.
