Exposure Monitoring in the Construction Industry Webinar

Oct 26, 2023

Join our Senior Occupational Hygienist Almi for our webinar on Exposure Monitoring in the Construction Industry. Learn more about how to identify and address the issues, learn about the strategies that can be taken to help prevent or reduce employee exposure in an everchanging workplace and let us help you take the steps to create healthy and sustainable environments that promote both individual and collective well-being.

The construction industry is a very dynamic workplace. Individuals working in these environments can be exposed to stressors from their own work and the variety of activities occurring in their surrounding area.

Several factors contribute to the difficulty in conducting exposure assessments in an ever-changing work environment. These include the frequent activity changes, many different contractors working in unison, unclear PCBU responsibilities, small-to-medium enterprises working with large construction companies, and changing workplace structures. This can impact not only individual health but also productivity in the workplace. Occupational disease removes expert skills from the work force before retirement does. When this happens, the younger workforce is unable to learn and gain valuable knowledge from experienced co-workers. This, in turn, can lead to reduced profitability for businesses, as well as a lower quality of life for employees.

This webinar is presented by Almi Bradfield-van Wyk, our Senior Occupational Hygienist based in the Wellington office.  She has over 10 years of experience in the occupational hygiene and environmental field and describes herself as creative, innovative, ambitiously driven & focused, with limitless curiosity and enthusiasm and strives to make a difference wherever she goes. She has a great devotion to assist workplaces in protecting their employees and the environment. Almi has moved from South Africa where she was a Senior Consultant & Occupational Hygienist and we are excited to have her as part of our team.
